IRONMAN 70.3 Tri-Cities, WA

Ben Tran and 7 Tribal leaders from across the country trained for months to prepare for the Ironman 70.3 in Tri-Cities, Washington, on September 20, 2026. Each team member prepared to participate in one of three parts of the race: the 1.2 mile swim, the 56 mile bike, or the 13.1 mile run. They raced in order to raise awareness and advocacy for Tribes and their people across the country. They also raced to set an example for Tribal youth of striving for good health, breaking bad habits, staying active, keeping moving, and showing that anything is possible.

Each person dealt with adversity, but each person persevered and finished their part of the race. Everyone gave their best, gave it their all, and refused to give up. Through their participation, they showed the Tribal members they serve that it is possible to break their limits, grow to meet challenges, support each other, and accomplish difficult and epic things.

The Tri for Tribes movement is growing; Natives from across the country have expressed interest in joining the IRONMAN 70.3 event in 2027: Swim 1.2 mi, Bike 56 mi, Run 13.1.
